Ribbon Blender comprises of a U-shaped horizontal trough and a specially designed Double Helical Ribbon Agitator rotating within. The Ribbon Agitator consists of a set of inner and outer helical Ribbons. Generally, the outer ribbon flights displace the material from the end of the center while the inner flights move the material from the center to the ends.
This counter-current action results in homogenous blending. The ribbons rotate at approximately 70-100 meters per minute and move the material both radially and laterally to ensure thorough blends short cycle times. Ribbon Blenders are used for blends that are between 50 % and 100 % of the rated capacity. An alternate design is thepaddle agitator. The paddles are positioned to move the material in opposing lateral direction as well as radially. The paddle design is generally employed where friable material are being blended, and when batches as small as 15 % of the total capacity are going to be mixed in the blender.
The top weight on the motor shaft rotates in a plane close to the centre of the mass of assembly. Rotation of the top eccentric weights creates vibration in the horizontal plane which causes material to move across the screen cloth to periphery Increasing the top eccentric mass Increases the horizontal throw causing oversize material to discharge ata tasterrat The bottom eccentric weight rotates below the centre of vibrating, mass creating it on the screen giving Vibration in vertical & tangential planes, increasing the vertical component of motion which promotes turnover of material on the screen surface helping maximum quantity of undersize material to pass through the screen. The effective vertical motion helps in minimising blinding of screen by near size particles. The tangential component of motion is controlled by the angle of lead given to bottom weights with relation to top weight

The pressure developed may be as high as 1000 mm wg.The fans for dry applications shall have impellers with backward curved or backward inclined blades.Fans for wet application like scrubber fans shall have specially designed impellers with straight blades.
